Depression, suicide, eating disorders and all mental illnesses in general are very SERIOUS and REAL PROBLEMS that nobody wants to go through. And those who suffer with mental disorders are NOT having fun, they don't think it's beautiful. They wish to break free.

One site on the internet, on the other hand, includes this stupid, toxic and dangerous teen trend. That needs to stop.

Tumblr is a site for everyone to share things like photography, literature, and artwork, to connect with others through interests, fanbases etc.
It's generally just a nice place for people to bond on the internet.

But it's not always safe for young unstable people in their teens. Because they might bump into touchy and sore subjects like people talking about things like self harm, anorexia and even suicide, together. They might write about how they shouldn't eat, how life is so harsh, how much they hate themselves and how they envy one another for having more self inflicted cuts.

Maybe this young person scrolling through this for the first time finds this relatable, maybe the person is going though an hard time and might think he/she/they should talk to those other people, or maybe find some more of those forums.

This person will then find personal pictures of other users' eating disorders, self harm, self hate,,, pictures might include depressing and pressuring quotes like "don't eat", "ugly", "i hate myself".

Users share and like pictures like this, spreading it around to many other young people.
Making other users to the same, like taking pictures, sharing them, getting attention on it. And that will quickly lead to them competing against eachother.
Pressuring eachtoher to eat less, cut deeper. Even ask/tell others "How can i cut deeper?" "what do you use to cut?" "I wish i was as skinny as you".

It can go as far as them starting to encourage eachother in comments like.
"COME ON! You can make two more days without eating" "That's it? That's a small cut" "you're fat, don't eat, listen to Ana"

[All those comments have been said to other users. And i am NOT making any of them up.]


Do you see where i'm at? This is sick and it needs to stop.
Things like this trigger mentally ill children, teens, and even older people to hurt themselves! YOU people who spread this make already mentally unstable people worse!!
Are YOU one of those special snowflakes? Taking a picture of your cuts, posting it and demanding for people to share so you will stop doing it?
Those pictures do not make you seem cool or cute, they make you seem like an attention seeking sick person.
And you might even be a sick attention seeking person and you want people to see you. But that is not how you seek help.
Seek a doctor, seek your parents, seek real HELP
STOP making it seem like an "okay" thing to do.

You are making self harm, anorexia, suicide and depression into an extremely toxic TREND

You are actually making a trend out of someone else's living hell.
There are those who suffer so hard, they don't see anything but darkness in life. And this is what you do with your pity shit? Liking and sharing disturbing pictures. Romantizising depression, looking up to people who killed themselves, villainfying those who are doing good in life.

You are making fun of those who really do suffer. Stop it, now.
Because it's getting so widespread, it's almost not even taken seriously anymore.

....Imagine a young person, let's call him 'Will', is going though things like this, and he seeks help from doctors, professionals etc.
He talks about his problems. But at the end of the meeting, the psychologist says "You have to stop seeking attention like this".
And gets told to get a grip and stop being a fool.

How do you think he'd feel? What if he's suicidal? What if he keeps it inside?
Will might would have ended up killing himself.

Is that cool to you? Do you feel like spreading a sad quote about suicide so people can envy your pityness?

It is actually ILLEGAL to post self harm pictures to the internet.
And it should also be illegal and quickly removed on Tumblr

But it's STILL going on, and it needs to STOP!!!
